CARDILATE MR (hypertension)
Drug class Description :

Calcium-channel blockers (class II calcium antagonists).

Generic Name :

Nifedipine - hypertension

Drug description :

10 mg pink f-c modified-release tablets. 20 mg brown f-c modified-release tablets.

Presentation :

Tablets, nifedipine 10mg , 20mg .

Indications :
Adult Dosage :

Initially 10 mg every 12 hours. Initially 10 mg every 12 hours. Titrate according to response; maximum 40 mg every 12 hours.

Child Dosage :

Not recommended.

Contra Indications :

Cardiogenic shock, unstable angina, severe aortic stenosis, within a month of MI. Pregnancy, lactation.

Special Precautions :

Poor cardiac reserve, heart failure, hepatic impairment, severe hypotension, diabetes, dialysis.

Interactions :

Antihypertensives, cimetidine, quinidine, digoxin, rifampicin, diltiazem, I.V. magnesium sulphate, grapefruit juice.

Adverse Reactions :

Headache, flushing, dizziness, oedema, tachycardia, hypotension, GI disturbances, lethargy, paraesthesia, skin reactions, myalgia, tremor, visual disturbances, increased urinary frequency, hypersensitivity type jaundice (rare), gingival hyperplasia, gynaecomastia. MI, ischaemic pain (discontinue).
